About Snapcaster

Snapcaster is an Ubuntu Touch app that redirects your device's audio output to a Snapcast server (https://github.com/badaix/snapcast) over TCP, so it can be played back in sync on your Snapcast clients.

How it works:
Snapcaster captures this device's audio output and streams it over TCP to a
Snapcast server. Under the hood it creates a virtual PulseAudio speaker (null
sink), routes the default output into it, and streams the monitor of that sink
to the server. The stream runs from a generated systemd-user-service, so it
keeps playing when the app is suspended in the background.

Requirements:
- A running Snapcast server (snapserver) reachable on your network.
- One or more Snapcast clients (snapclient) to play the audio.

It is "unconfined", because it creates a systemd user service, to keep the stream active, when the app or the device gets suspended.

Personally I use a snapcast server and client, set up on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a Waveshare PCM5122 Stereo-DAC connected to my Hifi-System.
