Experimental native Qt/QML Signal companion for Ubuntu Touch 24.04. Link it by QR code to a Signal account already registered on a supported phone. It is a linked device, not a primary account; old chats are not imported. It uses local signal-cli, not Signal Desktop, Electron or a hosted bridge. Not affiliated with Signal.

IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTICE: WHISTLEBLOWERS AND HIGH-RISK USERS

Journalists, activists, whistleblowers and people handling confidential material should use official Signal instead. This client has NOT been independently audited. Local messages, drafts, settings and stored/downloaded media are NOT encrypted at rest by this app. Signal-protocol transport does not make this equivalent to an official client. Do not use it when secure communication is essential.

FEATURES

- Direct and existing group chats; text, Unicode emoji, replies, reactions, editing, forwarding and eligible Delete for everyone.
- Photos, GIFs, videos, documents, voice notes and installed Signal stickers; image zoom, video playback and a conversation media gallery.
- Share from other apps, review attachments/captions before sending, or save a share for later.
- Search chats and locally stored messages; contact/group avatars, themes and safety-number display.
- App chime and Lomiri notification cards, conversation overrides, quiet hours and optional previews/read receipts.
- Optional Giphy/KLIPY GIF search with separate consent and your own API keys. Search terms and IP address go directly to the selected provider.
- Local retention and JSON settings backup/restore; no account state or messages in backups.

LIMITATIONS

This is not a full-featured Signal client. No calls, stories, view-once media, polls, typing indicators, mentions, rich-text formatting, full group administration or Signal Desktop history transfer. Conversation-wide Delete from all devices is unsupported and will not be implemented. Deleting a conversation here removes only this device's copy; deleting it on your phone does not erase the local copy here. Individual-message Delete for everyone is separate.

Notifications require the app/engine to run. UT Tweak Tool's Prevent App Suspension may help, but cannot guarantee delivery. Unknown sticker packs may install automatically unless disabled in Settings.

PRIVACY

No developer-run message relay. GIF providers are contacted only with consent. Local deletion is not secure erasure. Diagnostics are designed to exclude message contents and account secrets. JSON backups containing opted-in GIF API keys store those keys in plaintext.

Application-owned code and original assets: MIT No Attribution (MIT-0). Included dependencies retain separate licenses, including GPLv3 signal-cli and AGPLv3 libsignal components. See LICENSE and THIRD-PARTY.md. This application was vibe coded using an AI.
