# RTSP Camera Viewer

RTSP Camera Viewer is a native Ubuntu Touch application for viewing RTSP security cameras directly from the device using GStreamer.

Features include multiple saved cameras, automatic H.264 and H.265/HEVC playback, RTSP over TCP, optional username/password authentication, adjustable latency, light and dark modes, per-camera auto-start, automatic reconnect after app resume, and JSON configuration backup/restore through Ubuntu Touch Content Hub.

Version 0.5.2 keeps the optional PTZ control with Disabled, Global, and Per-camera modes. PTZ commands are user-defined HTTP/HTTPS GET URLs for Left, Right, Up, Down, and Stop; the app contains no built-in camera-vendor endpoint. Swipe on an unzoomed video to move and tap to send Stop. It also fixes portrait video sizing after portrait-landscape-portrait rotation, makes the landscape hamburger menu scrollable, and supplies a bundled snapshot icon so the snapshot action is always visible.

PTZ URL sets can be shared globally or stored separately for each camera. PTZ remains disabled by default. The app validates that configured command URLs use HTTP or HTTPS and performs one GET request per action without constructing vendor-specific URLs.

The app connects directly to cameras configured by the user. It does not require a cloud service or account and does not include analytics or tracking.

Configuration backups are UTF-8 JSON files. They include camera URLs, usernames, passwords, PTZ mode, and PTZ command URLs in plain text so that the full configuration can be restored. PTZ URLs may contain credentials depending on the camera API. Store backup files securely. Existing Content Hub backup/restore functionality and permissions are preserved.

Snapshots are saved inside the app's private writable `Snapshots` directory. The hamburger menu includes an **Open snapshots folder** action that asks Ubuntu Touch's URL dispatcher to open that directory in a registered file manager. The reserved `picture_files` AppArmor policy is no longer requested; the app uses only common networking, video, and Content Hub policy groups.
